Girls Who Shoot / Boys Who Draw

GIRLS WHO SHOOT / BOYS WHO DRAW

Curated by Janet Lilo

Featuring Anita Jacobsen, Limi Manu, Onesian, Anthony Tia, Ane Tonga and Amanda Warwick

In collaboration with Tautai Contemporary Pacific Arts Trust

Girls Who Shoot / Boys Who Draw is not a show about cowgirls and boys in a gun fight. Nor does it make witty references to drug epidemics and samurai swords. It is a show that is quite literal in its naming – Girls Who Shoot refers to female photographers and Boys Who Draw, to the male artists alongside them, who have a strong drawing aesthetic or process to their practice.

Six artists will present works that engage with a variety of subject matters. From an exploration of gold teeth, cultural cringe, the ‘Urban Oceanic’ to graffiti art.

FAM BAM! is a public event where photographic portraits will be shot in the gallery affront a custom-made backdrop designed and determined by public engagement and popular demand!

Participants will walk away with their high quality portrait image on disc for free and will potentially have an opportunity to add their images to the gallery show.
